It’s been sooooo long since my last Fragrance Friday! I know that I never promised to do these every week, but I never thought I would go this long without doing one! Anyway, I won’t bother with my lame excuses, I’ll just tell you that I have a plan going forward so that I don’t miss as many weeks again!
This week, I’ll be reviewing a fragrance from the niche brand, Amouage. Amouage is known for their complex and sometimes even strange scents. Journey Woman falls right in line with that. Let’s get into it!
I love the bottles of the Amouage women’s fragrances. The bottle for this fragrance looks so luxurious and stands out in my collection. Now on to the juice inside!
Top: apricot, jasmine tea, osmanthus, nutmeg, cardamom
Mid: jasmine, sambac, mimosa, honey, cedar wood
Base: pipe tobacco, saffron, vanilla, cypriol, musk
Amouage Journey Woman is so different than any other fragrance that I’ve smelled. My first thought when I spray it is that it smells like decaying flowers. I know that sounds disgusting, but it actually works! When I really think about what I’m smelling, I think I get a lot of the apricot, osmanthus, nutmeg, and cardamom. The sweetness of the pipe tobacco and vanilla mixed with the floral notes, give it this sweet (but not too sweet) and powdery (but not too powdery) smell. As it dries down, more of the honey comes out, but overall the scent basically stays the same on my skin.
I know my description of this fragrance may sound a little strange, but the notes in this fragrance come together so beautifully! Like most fragrances from Amouage, I feel like you really need to smell it to get it! I also think that most fragrances from Amouage may not be love at first sniff, but when they get on your skin, they transform.
Amouage Journey Woman lasts on my skin for 10+ hours. This fragrance has decent projection, but is not one that will announce your presence before you get there.
I think this fragrance works best in cooler temperatures or in air conditioning. Because of the sweetness and spice, it could be a little overwhelming in the dead of summer. I personally like wearing this one to work, but also casually. I’m not sure that I would think of it as a date night scent, but I do think it is cozy enough to wear in the evenings at home.
Overall, I’m really happy that I took a chance on Amouage Journey Woman. It is one the most unique fragrances in my collection.
Amouage Journey Woman retails for $340 for a 3.4 oz bottle, but you can get it for less than half that price (currently) here!
Have you tried any fragrances from Amouage? If so, what did you think?
