Today’s Fragrance Friday is all about Mancera’s Aoud Lemon Mint. Mancera markets Aoud Lemon Mint as a unisex fragrance inspired by a Cuban fresh and sweet cocktail! I personally love the smell of mint (especially in a cocktail), so I thought this may be a great pickup for the summer.
Unfortunately, Mancera fragrances are not sold anywhere near me, so a couple of months ago, I ordered this as a “blind buy”. Keep reading to see what I think of it!
If we are being completely honest here, I blind buy a LOT. I do have to confess that this one made me nervous and I thought about it for months before pulling the trigger. There are not many reviews of it on the web or YouTube and the few that I have found have been mostly males. I was concerned that it would be too masculine, even though the notes made it sound very promising.
Top: lemon, coriander, pepper, almond, mandarin
Mid: jasmine, patchouli, aoud
Base: leather, amber, vetiver, musk, vanilla
On my skin this opens up with a blast on lemon and mint with the oud mingling in the background. It is absolutely stunning! The lemon is tart, but is rounded out by the sweet mint and the mild oud. If you have ever smelled oud, you may know that sometimes it can be very heavy, overwhelming, and dirty/musty smelling. In Aoud Lemon Mint, this is not that type of oud. In this fragrance, the oud really helps to ground the citrus notes. I think this fragrance will work well year round, but especially in spring/summer because of the citrus.
I do think that this fragrance is truly unisex. I would love to smell this on my husband, but I also love it on myself. It is intoxicating and has a boozy type quality to it. Like the other fragrances that I own from Mancera, this one has very good longevity–10-12 hours. It projects pretty well, so I wouldn’t recommend overspraying this one. I love wearing this because I catch little whiffs of it on myself all day long.
As I’m sure you can tell, I love Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint. I think that is unique, beautiful, and energizing.
Mancera Aoud Lemon Mint retails for $180 for a 4 oz bottle and can be purchased HERE.
