Fragrance Friday #9 | Paco Rabanne Olympea Intense EDP

Paco Rabanne’s Olympea Intense is a flanker of the wildly successful Olympea. Although many people own and love Olympea, I never hear anyone talk about the Intense version, so here we are.

Olympea Intense was launched in 2016 and I’ve probably owned it for about 2 years. As you can see, I haven’t used it much. It’s one of those fragrances that until now, I never really reached for. Every time I’ve gone through my fragrances, I haven’t wanted to get rid of it and now I’m glad that I didn’t!

On the Paco Rabanne website, Olympea Intense is described as an “oriental scent with a vanilla salty-amber combination”. Sometimes amber can really take over a fragrance and all you really smell is the amber. This is not one of those times. This fragrance is really well balanced so that I smell both the amber and the vanilla, plus the floral notes. Although almond isn’t listed as a note, on my skin it seems like it would be. After this dries down on my skin, it reminds me of a sweet root beer with orange blossom. I love it!

Although this is an Intense version of Olympea, I don’t find it to be that intense. It does last a long time on my skin (6-8 hours), but it doesn’t fill a room. I do find that I’m able to get little whiffs of it throughout the day, which makes me very happy.

I’m so glad that I gave Olympea Intense another try! I think this fragrance will be perfect for year round use. I probably will limit this to day time wear, as I like my night fragrances to be a bit heavier.

Paco Rabanne Olympea Intense is no longer available in department stores, but can readily be found on discounted websites for around $50 for a 1.7 oz bottle.

Have you tried Olympea or Olympea Intense? Which do you prefer?
