Fragrance Friday #8 | Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante EDT

Don’t you just love a beautiful bottle? This week I will be reviewing a fragrance from Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria line, Ginger Piccante. This fragrance is 1 of 2 fragrances released in 2019 from this line. Does the fragrance live up to the beautiful bottle?

Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria collection is described as “intensely fresh” and Guerlain recommends layering them to create your own signature. All the fragrances in this line are Eau de Toilettes.

The notes for Ginger Piccante are bergamot, lemon, ginger (top notes), pepper, rose (middle notes), cedar, and white musk (base notes). To my nose, this smells like candied ginger. It is sweet and spicy, while remaining very clean. It also has a very comforting vibe to it. I love the smell of ginger, so I keep reaching for this bottle! I only recently purchased this, but have worn it about 3 times this week!

The Aqua Allegoria line is known to lack longevity, so I expected poor longevity with Ginger Piccante. This fragrance actually exceeded my expectations. It lasted on me around 4-5 hours, but on my clothing, it lasted more than 24 hours. I was pretty impressed!

This fragrance does not project very well, so if you base your thoughts on a fragrance on compliments, this probably isn’t for you. Although I wore this fragrance 3 times this week, all of those times were either to work out or around the house so I haven’t received any compliments on it yet. It does sit close to the skin, but I definitely smell it on myself as I’m moving around (which is important to me).

Overall, this fragrance is a winner for me! Initially when I purchased it, I thought I would only wear it in the Spring and Summer. This week, it has been in the 80’s everyday, so even though it’s technically Winter, I don’t really know how I would feel about this in the colder weather. I don’t think it is heavy enough to be smelled through many layers of clothing.

Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante retails for $105 and can be purchased here.

How do you feel about ginger in perfume? Do you own any of the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria fragrances?
