Maison Margiela released their Replica line of fragrances in 2012 and now they have 19 fragrances in their line. All of the fragrances in this line are named based on the type of memory they are intended to evoke. All of the Replica fragrances come in the same beautiful bottle with the linen label. I love the way these fragrances are presented and the entire idea of fragrances being linked to memories!
I usually never quote the actual fragrance house’s description of a fragrance, but this one was too good!
Liptisck On is an immersion into the intimate atmosphere of a boudoir, through sensual notes of vanilla bourbon and absolute tonka been, with an elegant trail of orange flower absolute, patchouli, neroli and iris accords.
A sensual glide of crimson red lipstick, as the final touch before a night out.Maison Martin Margiela
I think the description they gave is perfect! When I smell this, it reminds me of vintage makeup. I’m taken back to the times when I would secretly play in my mother’s Mary Kay. Back in the day, makeup had a distinct smell that was powdery and a little sweet, just like this fragrance. On me, the sweetness is really pronounced, followed secondly by the powder. I don’t really smell the patchouli in this, but I definitely get the vanilla bourbon and tonka bean that add a little depth to the sweetness.
I’ve owned Lipstick On for a couple of years now, and it is one of my favorites! The only downside is that it doesn’t last all day on me. However, I think the scent is so unique, inviting, and pleasing to me that I don’t even care. I decanted a little into a travel atomizer and I love touching up with that whenever I wear Lipstick On. On me, it typically lasts around 4 hours.
This fragrance may not be for everyone, because it smells vintage. I love it, but I definitely could see that some people may not.
Have you tried any fragrances in the Replica line? If so, which is your favorite?
