redbook Red Beauty Box Review

If you have been following my blog for awhile, you may remember that I am a redbook online magazine contributor. Recently they sent me a few products to test out and I want to share what I think of them with you today! This post is sponsored by redbook, but as always, all opinions are my own. If you are interested, keep reading!

Finishing Touch’s Flawless® Hair Remover So this was the item that I was most skeptical about in the box. This device promises instant, painless facial hair removal. It is specifically intended for women so it will not take off a thick male beard. I was absolutely floored when I tried this out on my mustache and forehead. This is a bit embarrassing to share, but I am a little hairy. I don’t have super long hair on my face or anything, but I do have peach fuzz all over the place. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well this worked. It had me mustache-free in a matter of a 30 or so seconds. Also, I like that there are no visible blades, and the device actually looks very sleek.

Curel’s Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer This is an in-shower moisturizer that you apply to wet skin and you don’t have to rinse off. I’ve tried a few of these types of products now, and I have to say that this one works well. I find that it keeps me moisturized throughout the day and is quick and convenient to use. I have really dry skin on my body and with other in-shower moisturizers that I have tried, I usually end up getting ashy by the end of the day.

MegRhythm’s Gentle Steam Eye Mask This eye mask is the perfect pampering treat after a stressful day. It is a cloth mask that starts to heat itself as soon as the wrapping is taken off. I found that this stayed pretty warm for about 15 minutes. Not only does it provide nice warmth, but it also has a lavender scent (also available in unscented and citrus scent) that really helped me feel relaxed. I convinced my husband to try this one out with me and he loved it too!

Mary Kay’s Clear Proof® Deep-Cleansing Charcoal Mask If you find that charcoal masks are usually too drying, you should try this one out. I really liked applying this mask to my face because it was really smooth (and dare I say creamy)! Once it dried, it felt a little tight, but not uncomfortably so. I also found that this mask rinsed off better than a lot of other charcoal masks that I have tried. After rinsing, it left my skin feeling smooth, extremely clean, and not overly dry or stripped. I think this was my second favorite product in the box.

Sexy Hair’s Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Lite Soft Volumizing & Texturizing Powder Volumizing and/or texturing products are not something that I would typically purchase. As you all know, I wear my hair in its natural curly or coiled state. Because of this, if I need volume, I simply use a pick. I did try this out for those of you that wear your hair straight and I was surprised to see that it did work to give me some volume. It comes out as a white powder, but I found that I only needed to use a small amount and it didn’t give me a white cast.
