NARS has been one of my favorite brands for awhile now, so when I saw that they were coming out with new liquid lipsticks (finally!), I had to try them! The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments launched a little over a month ago with 20 shades ranging from nudes to black! There were so many colors that I wanted to try, but I narrowed it down to 5. If you want to know what I thought of them, keep reading!
The NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments ($26 each) are supposed to be a matte, long-wearing, highly pigmented lip color, that promises a weightless feel. I’ve been wearing these for a few weeks now and I have to say that I agree with all of those claims!

First off, look at those colors! All of the shades that I picked up pack a powerful punch of color with one swipe! So much so, that I applied way too much product the first time that I tried one on! Because these are so pigmented, I actually wipe a little of the product off (just like a nail polish) before I apply.

The texture on the Powermattes is very thin. It is definitely the thinnest liquid lipstick that I have tried. Although the consistency is thin, they are very opaque. The best comparison that I can think of is ink. The upside to that is that you need very little product which in turn gives you that lightweight feel. The downside, is that you have to be very careful when applying to make sure that you don’t get the color outside of your lips.

Unlike some other liquid lipsticks that I have tried, the Powermattes give you quite a bit of time before they dry down. This allows you to be able to perfect your lip and even layer colors if you want. During that time, you have to make sure not to get the pigment on your teeth! When these do dry down, they are resistant to smudging, but not completely transfer proof. I personally, like transfer proof liquid lipsticks, because I don’t have to worry about them getting on my babies when I kiss them! However, these don’t get all over your face (once dry), so they are still relatively carefree. You might see a little transfer on cups, but I notice that they stick around after a meal.

On me, all of the colors I tried lasted 6-8 hours! I was actually quite impressed because they felt very comfortable and didn’t look super dry, but still lasted! The darker shades did slightly stain my lips.

So I really liked all of the shades that I chose, but my favorite is Don’t Stop, followed closely by Under My Thumb. If none of these shades are your cup of tea, I’m sure that you will find at least a couple that you like from the remaining 15 shades.
The Nitty-Gritty
Pros:
- long lasting
- lightweight
- matte, but not overly dry looking
- non-drying
- wide color range
- highly pigmented
- gorgeous, sleek packaging
Cons:
- not completely transfer-proof
- application can get messy if not done carefully
Overall, I really like the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigments and I am excited to try some more colors. I think that these are a unique addition to my lip product stash.

You look stunning in every colour!!! Looks like a nice product as well 🙂
So sweet! Thank you!
Great colors! I bought Warm Leatherette, which is the matte version of their gloss[Velvet Lip Glide] in Le Main Bleu. I love this formula, and a little does go a long way! I might pick up a couple more when Ulta has a 20% or during the Sephora VIB sale.
Thanks! I actually just recently ordered Warm Leatherette and I can’t wait to try it out!
