What’s Been Going On?

I have been majorly absent from my blog lately. Last fall I went MIA and this year I started back posting, but have since fallen off. I have thought about blogging a lot, but just never was able to make myself do it. Life has been complicated this past year!

As you all probably already know, April 2015, my first child, Noah, was born! Now that I am a mom, I can truly say that children are the greatest blessing! However, as you may have guessed, children also occupy a great amount of time. There has definitely been an adjustment of my priorities and how I manage my time since the birth of my son.

What a lot of you may not know is that in October 2015, my mother-in-law passed away after battling with cancer for 3 years. Needless to say, my family was devastated. Less than 6 months later, my grandmother-in-law (my husband’s maternal grandmother) also passed away. She wasn’t sick at all so her death was very unexpected. I think she passed away of a broken heart after losing her only child. Within a month of her passing, one of my very close friends also lost her mother to cancer.

I didn’t really speak much about these things publicly because I don’t really like talking about things that upset me or make me sad. However, I felt like I owed it to all of you loyal readers who have been following my blog since its inception 4 years ago! All of these major life events coupled with a lack of motivation or loss of interest on my part is the reason that I’ve been gone so long.

With that being said, I have thought long and hard about closing out my blog and YouTube channel altogether since I can’t seem to get consistent with posts anymore. I’ve decided that I will keep both the blog and YouTube channel going, but I think that for now I will focus more on the blog than video posting. There will be some changes though. I initially started this blog because I wanted to try out products for my natural hair (back when natural hair was less mainstream) and share reviews with you. Over the years, I’ve gotten away from hair talk and transitioned into makeup product reviews. I still LOOOOVE hair and makeup, but my life has changed and I think its time that my blog reflects that. Not to mention, the market is so saturated with beauty bloggers, that I feel like I’m just one of millions! Henceforth, I plan to post about WHATEVER I want! πŸ™‚ I no longer want to feel boxed into one category. Generally, I expect to still post most about hair and beauty, but I will also incorporate home decor, mommy stuff, venting sessions, and all other types of randomness into this blog. Also, I will not be committing to a posting schedule, because I will not be able to keep that up with my current lifestyle and I don’t want this to feel like a job! IΒ want to get back to LOVING blogging and I think I may have lost that along the way somewhere.

Thank you for all of your support over the years! I hope that you continue to walk with me on this upcoming journey! I know that some of you are only here for makeup reviews, but I hope that you find my other posts interesting too! I have changed my mindset to no longer do posts that I think will get the most views, but to do the posts that make me happy! In turn, I hope they bring a little happiness your way too!

Sorry for such a long post, but I felt like I really needed to share this with you all! I’m looking forward to the new direction that this blog will take and I hope you are too!

  7. Hey Sis,
Deepest condolences to you and your family. Your story is a reminder of a bible verse (Ecclesiastes 3:1) To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven. I’m sorry your family has been dealing with such burden overload. I can relate! Nonetheless, it’s your time to heal! I’ve been following you for years and I’m glad you chose to stay on social media. Personally, I started following you because of your hair and makeup videos. But I’ve been hooked ever since the first video. You’re classy, simple, and very down to earth which reminds me a lot of myself. I look forward to your post in any capacity (snap chat, FB, YT, blogs). I’m a fan and you’re a friend in my head πŸ™‚
