Weekly Hit or Miss: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel System

I know I’ve been MIA and I’m sorry! The truth is I want to post more, but I have so much to do for my new home that it is taking up all of my free time. As we speak, I’m still surrounded by boxes! So, it may be a little while before I’m able to post regularly again, but I hope you understand. Anyway, this week I tried the new Sally Hansen Miracle Gel System in Pink Cadillaquer. Keep reading to find out if it was a hit or miss!

The Sally Hansen Miracle Gel System is a 2 step system that is supposed to give you “up to 14 days of color & shine” without using a UV light and will remove with regular nail polish remover. I am kind of rough on my nail polish because I work with my hands, so of course when I saw this I had to try it. Not to mention, they came out with a whole lot of pretty shades. I purchased this as a set for around $15, but the nail color and top coat may be purchased separately for around $10 each.

So I tried this nail system twice because the first time I saw chipping the very next day after polishing. I was very disappointed because it’s supposed to last up to 14 days and it didn’t even last a full 24 hours! I decided to try it again, because the first time I was still unpacking and opening a lot of boxes so I figured that it was my fault. The picture below shows what my nails looked like after having the polish on around 48 hours….

Absolutely horrible! I am returning this product right after I finish this blog post because it is worse than regular nail polish as far as chipping and cracking goes. Also, you may be able to see in the picture above that the polish also dulled on some fingers. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a before picture, but the nail polish looked nice when first applied, but not more so than any other nice nail color. Also, the formula was a little thick and sticky just in case you were wondering.

This product is a huge MISS for me!

Have you tried Sally Hansen Miracle Gel? Did you get any better results?

  1. I have had really good results. I am a qualified nail tech and I prepped my nails first. No problem at all! I used two very thin coats of color and very thin coat of top coat. I let them dry in between coats and didn’t get the product in my nail fold like you did. I also cap the edges with color and top coat. I think it is brilliant!

  2. I was skeptical of the polish at first… but I have had amazing results. No joke. I just bought it a week ago. It has lasted a whole week without chipping… seven days and counting. I read articles and watched a lot of Youtube videos on people’s reviews. This help me figure out quick how others were applying it. What I did different is I applied thin coats and let dry for five minutes in between. I would paint and then go sit and watch the TV or Facebook for a few minutes. I put three coats of color on and the one top coat. I did the extra coat so I could apply it thin and get a better overall color coverage. I would exchange the polish bottle…could have been a bad or old bottle. πŸ™‚ I am a teacher in real life so my nails take a beating.

    1. That’s great that it worked out for you! It seems to be a hit or miss product with so many people. I already took my bottle back and don’t think I will be purchasing any more since it didn’t work out for me. πŸ™‚

  3. Thanks so much for reviewing this product and for posting pics of the results you experienced. I was very curious about this polish and was on the verge of purchasing it. You definitely saved me a trip to the store to the store and the disappointment of another failed product.

  4. Hi, I canΒ΄t believe what happened to you. I love miracle gel… my nails look amazing.
Seeing the photo of the pink nails i think you put a lot of coats but i dont know haha … good look next time. xoxox from Mexico πŸ˜€

    1. I know. I only used 2 coats like they suggested, but I kind of want to try another color and use 1 coat instead. I keep hearing good things about it from others so I’m sad that it didn’t work for me!
