Loreal recently came out with a new huge line of nail polishes, the Loreal Extraordinaire Gel-Lacque. It comes as a 3 step system that is designed to give you the long lasting shiny finish of a manicure with a gel system, but without the hassle of UV lamps and soaking off the polish. As soon as I saw the display, I was excited because I immediately wondered if they were as good as the Formula X for Sephora system (review here). Keep reading to see if they live up to the claims!
The system consists of 3 steps. The first step is a base coat, second step is color, and third step is the top coat.
If you purchase all 3 steps (Steps 1 & 2 come packaged together), it comes up to about $20 (kind of steep for drug store).
The colors in this line are absolutely gorgeous on the display. Unfortunately, that’s the best thing about them. These polishes apply thickly, which kind of makes it hard to maintain neatness. Also, they don’t live up to their claims. All 3 shades I tried chipped on me within 24 hours. In the very first picture of this post, you can see that they don’t look very shiny and already have a little tip wear and that picture was taken the same day I applied the nail color. These “gel” polishes don’t even last as long as a regular Loreal polish on my nails.
For me, this is a definite miss! It’s too bad since the colors are so pretty. I already took all of these back to the store!
Have you tried the Loreal Gel-Lacque system? Did they work out better for you?
