Who says you can’t wear red lips during the day? Don’t listen to them. Red lipstick can make otherwise boring makeup pop. If you would like to know my tips on how to keep it casual and rock a red lip, then keep reading!
The #1 rule to make red lips more casual is to keep everything else minimalistic. I chose a foundation that provided light coverage so that I wouldn’t look too made up. In this look, I’m wearing MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation (NC44) and Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (Caramel) underneath the eyes only.
Using eyeshadow and eyeliner would instantly dress up this look, but I was going for a casual feel so I decided to skip both.
I chose to go with a light orange blush (Nars Gina) as opposed to something darker because red lipstick tends to pull out the redness in other products on the face. If orange blush doesn’t compliment your skin tone, just use a blush that will give a more natural look. I also applied highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones (Stila All Over Shimmer #3) to keep the look fresh.
MAC RiRi Woo, is the perfect red that will look good on almost all skin tones. If you don’t have this shade but you want it, make sure to sign up at maccosmetics.com to be on the waiting list. This lipstick will be re-released on Thursday, June 6th. Of course, you can do this look with any red lipstick that you love!
