I absolutely hate when I drop a makeup product and the product shatters. Unfortunately that has happened to me on more than one occasion. Today’s Tip Tuesday post is about fixing a broken powder product such as an eyeshadow or blush. I just recently tried this for the first time, so I thought I would share it with you. Keep reading if you are interested in seeing what I did!
Supplies Needed:
A broken powder product
Napkin or towel
Isopropyl alcohol (strength doesn’t matter)
Any object with a flat surface that is the same size or smaller than your broken powder
Q-tip (optional)
Step 1:
If your powder is in large pieces, break it into finer pieces using your object with a flat surface. Here, I used a mascara tube.
Step 2:
Pour enough alcohol into your product to saturate it, but not so it is overflowing.
Step 3:
Cover your flat surface with a paper towel and use that to press the eyeshadow. It is important to actually press the product down as opposed to just tapping it. This will help remove some of the excess alcohol. Use a Q-tip to clean around the edges if you so desire.
Step 4:
Leave to dry for 6-8 hours.
Final Product
I let mine sit overnight and in the morning, I had a usable product. Sure, it doesn’t look pretty, but the application and feel of the product is just like brand new!
This process was really helpful to me because before whenever I broke a product previously, I either threw it in the trash, or put it somewhere and never really used it again. Have you tried this technique? Do you plan on trying it?
Great tip!! Thanks. Looking forward to your next video. BTW, I have been transitioning for the past 6 months and I will be doing the big chop in a few weeks. Thanks for the inspiration😊.
Thanks girl! I’m excited to hear that you decided to chop! I can’t wait to see it!
