Let me preface this post by saying, I’m not very good at actual hairstyles. In fact, I never really even washed my own hair until I was fully natural. That is actually one of the reasons that I wanted to start this blog. I want women to see that with practice and patience, anyone can manage thier natural hair.
Anyway, I decided to try another flat twist-out to see if it would look any better since my hair has grown out some. Last time I tried this, my hair was a few inches shorter and I felt that it just didn’t fall right in a twist-out. This time around, I started out on a few day old wash and go. I flat twisted my hair into 8 twists using a little water and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. I sealed the moisture in with Carol’s Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey. I was able to get 4 days in before I had to wash again. I maintained my hair by flat twisting in larger sections every night. Scroll down to see more pictures.

Sorry about the quality of the upcoming photos, they were all taken with my phone. 🙂

What do you think? What is your go to routine for defined, but voluminous twist-outs?
I LOVE it!!!!! Looks awesome- you did a good job. I really like the way your hair is cut/falls and the color looks good on your skin tone.
Thanks Carina! I’m trying to get better at the infamous twist-out! Your hair has been looking fab on fb too. Are you getting more comfortable with it?
Hi! I found your blog from the BLM FB page. Your hair looks really pretty, and I completely agree that beauty should be simple and fun. Looking forward to more great posts!
Thanks! I look forward to interacting with you!
I love it! I can’t wait to see your posts! I just did my BC and I don’t feel comfortable wearing my hair yet. I need to test out a few styles….so please keep them coming! 🙂
Yay, you did it! Play with it on days when you can stay at home, just in case it doesn’t come out as expected. Thanks for checking out my blog!

It looks great! I can’t wait to get to the twist out stage … I’m new to the big chop phase.
Thanks! Congrats on big chopping!
Hi there! Great hair!!!!!!!!!!!!! And omg, you are so pretty. Actually, gorgeous! Your waves are great, and the color is really dope too. I am currently transitioning. It’s been 11 months-no perm. I twist my hair while it’s dripping wet, with my motions leave-in conditioner to get the best, defined waves. When it’s dry, I apply Jojoba oil all over, and that’s it! I just followed you. Check out my blog when you get a chance. I’ll check in again on your page for more pics and hair updates.
Blessings to you. 🙂
Thanks! Good luck with transitioning, it takes patience! 🙂 I’ll definitely be checking out your blog too!
Great post! I’ve nominated you for some awards–please check it out http://beautyproductreviewsbydeb.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/awards/
Thanks for your comments and the nominations, I’m truly flattered!
Your hair looks GREAT! I have tried twistouts a few times and didn’t like the results:-( I am going to try different products to see if I get better results. Like you, I never did my own hair when I was relaxed! So this washing and styling is very new to me!
Thanks Stephanie! Keep trying. You will find a way that works for you!
